History of the bark Kruzenshtern
This four masted bark was constructed in 1926 in a shipyard in Weser-Munde (Germany) and was initially named "Padua".
The Soviet Union aquired the vessel and in January 1946 it was subsequently renamed in honour of an outstanding Russian seafarer and researcher: I.F.Krusenstern. It is used as a research vessel and has the capacity to travel very long distances and spend long periods of time at sea. As such the Krusenstern has made some round the world expeditions.
Between 2002-2005 the vessel was completely reconstructed with additional research equipment being installed.
